Before this process is started, sections for each term should be built, error lists run and data errors corrected.

After this process is run, the schedule file can be run to be used to prepare the Schedule of Classes book for publication.

What is the end-result of this process, or the hand-off
A synonym number is assigned to each section being offered in a term. A Synonym Number Report is an output of running "Update Synonym Numbers.
What steps must be taken independent of the computer system (Manual Process)
Which steps must be taken on a computer (Electronic Process):
1. Access the XSCH, Print Schedule parameter screen.
This run of XSCH creates the file needed by the "Update Synonym Number" program.

Example of parameters to be used.
a) Printer, Screen, File, Email or Quite = e
b) Enter an email address or email to (Y)ourself = y
c) Enter the Term, like 2000SP = 2002fa
d) Enter a Synonym number or (A)ll = a
e) Enter a Division code or (A)ll Divisions = a
f) For all Locations (S)BVC or (C)HC, or enter individual codes = s
g) (A)ll Classes or (S)hort Term Classes = a
h) Select (A)ll Classes or those w/beginning date >= = a
i) Print (C)ourse, (S)ection, or (B)oth Notes = s
*j) Print Worksheet (Y/N) = y
k) Run Program (Y/N) = y
* MUST BE ANSWERED WITH A Y to assign synonym number to ALL sections.

2. Access the XSYN, Update Synonym Number parameter screen.
Running this program, XSYN, will assign the synonym numbers to each section.

Example of parameters to be used.
a) (C)HC or (S)BVC or (Q)uit = S
*b) Enter starting number = 3000
c) Sent to (P)rinter or (S)creen = p
d) Enter printer name or (Q)uit = vintp3
e) Update Synonym# in Course.Sections (Y/N) = y
f) Override existing Synonym Numbers (Y/N) = y

* SBVC`s range of numbers are 3000 - 8999.
