epos/treg script updates

Office Responsible: DCS - District - Computing Services Process Type: internal
Position Title: Sr. Programmer Analyst Author: JMoody
Cross Trained Staff: MMooney Manager: MMooney Vice Pres.: RTemple

Timeline (Deadlines or Time-Constraints) :
each term, as requested
What must be done before this process is started:
Script changes, communicated through the UL (Deanna), tend to occur near the start of a new term - for example, decisions whether to allow parking permits (annual or otherwise) to be purchased through epos.
Which processes are waiting for this process:
Scripts are executed by Encore (ROAM screen).
Source documents or communication with information needed for this process:
Script directory and file names are defined by the Encore configuration on each epos machine: D:\CCSEncore\scripts directory, file names like datatel_504 and test_504. They are updated with Scriptwriter.
What is the end-result of this process, or the hand-off
A revised script becomes the active script the next time Encore restarts the lines configured to use it. A new script needs to be placed in the Encore configuration for a line (or application?) before it can be used.
What steps must be taken independent of the computer system (Manual Process)
None?
Which steps must be taken on a computer (Electronic Process):
On each epos machine:
1. backup the script file to be updated.
2. Run Scriptwriter and open the script source file.
3. Create revision log and initial changes.
3. Edit text source file editing. For example, to change parking message, in subroutine PARKASB, change this line:
SPEAK PHRASE, 3054 ;;JM1 Parking, 3051 during FALL
4. Compile script program.
To test a script - activate first on one line only?
Related Documents to Process (e.g. Datatel documentation, Government code books, etc.)
Datatel`s TREG manual (TREG.pdf).
TRGM, column Treg Msg# shows recording played on errors.
TRGP (Telephone Registration Parameters) - field 18 contains Script Step # to S02 program name.
Notes (Cautions, suggestions for improvement, etc.)
Now that DCS is located in the 8th Street Annex, use remote access software (Dameware) to acces epos in the CSB building on the Valley campus. Install Dameware on pc to be used for script updates.
Standard names for backup files?
For more on phrases, see voice recording (ProcessNo 25).
