Fix Files 1. Make a copy of the corrupted file at the unix level. 2. Count the file. 3. Select the file. If the file can’t be counted or selected then if probably can be fixed with this process. 4. In the unix directory of the file, usually in DATA/DATA_(first letter of file name), run $UDTBIN/guide This process should create 3 files. If the file in question is corrupted a fourth file will be created. This file will have a .DAT extension. 5. Do, more GUIDE_*, cut and paste into Word the information that will appears in one of these files that tells which groups are corrupted. Save this information. 6. In the same unix directory as the damaged file run $UDTBIN/fixfile –f –d |
