Fires are largely preventable, and this program aims to eliminate fire causes and prevent loss of life and property. SBCCD requires all employees operating a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) to be qualified and knowledgeable of safe operating procedures to protect campus safety and health. Specific employees are designated to operate PITs, exposing them to hazards such as tipping, pedestrian traffic, blind spots, poor maintenance, and narrow aisles. This program ensures that all SBCCD PIT operators receive adequate training and qualification. SBCCD will comply with Cal/OSHA standards for PIT operation. This program aims to actively reduce and control safety and health risks by outlining proper policies, procedures, and responsibilities for employees. By identifying and correcting potential or existing hazards, the number of workplace injuries and illnesses can be minimized.

SBCCD has developed a Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Safety Program to establish minimum requirements for locking out energy during machine or equipment maintenance or servicing. These procedures ensure that machines or equipment are stopped, isolated from hazardous energy sources, and locked out to prevent injury from unexpected startup or energy release. The program addresses the control of various hazardous energies, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal, to prevent accidental activation during repairs, cleaning, and servicing. It establishes a safe and reliable method for shutting down machinery, equipment, and systems. SBCCD will ensure training is provided to each employee who has duties that require them to work chemical vapors, certain biohazards, asbestos, and other particulates. SBCCD will also provide additional training to each employee assigned respiratory protection.

SBCCD includes San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) in San Bernardino and Crafton Hills College (CHC) in Yucaipa, along with a professional development center and a public broadcast system. This document ensures compliance with the State Water Resources Control Board's General Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR) order No. 2006-0003. It sets specific requirements for the wastewater collection system and upholds state water quality standards.

The Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan ensures compliance with the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 40, Part 112, regarding oil storage and discharge reporting. It mandates that any oil discharge to navigable waters or shorelines must be reported to the appropriate authorities. The plan must be reviewed and updated whenever there is a significant change at the facility that affects the potential for an oil discharge and at least every five (5) years. This plan aims to prevent and manage oil spills effectively.

SBCCD will ensure training is provided to each employee who has duties that require them to work with motor oil.

SBCCD has developed guidelines aimed to ensure safe operation of utility cart-type vehicles by authorized SBCCD employees to prevent injuries and property damage on SBCCD property. Utility carts are motorized vehicles powered by electric or internal combustion motors, excluding tractors or other machinery, from manufacturers such as: Cushman, Club Car, Daihatsu, among others. These guidelines apply specifically to the safe use of utility carts within the SBCCD property.

SBCCD has established a comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) to safeguard their employees from potential threats and violence in the workplace in accordance with Senate Bill 553 (SB553). This plan aims to identify and assess workplace hazards, establish procedures to prevent and respond to incidents of workplace violence, and provide training for employees on recognizing and mitigating risks. By adhering to SB 553, employers not only comply with state regulations but also commit to fostering a culture of safety and well-being for their workforce.

General Training Requirements:
WVPP training is mandatory for employees upon hiring, and a record of training completion will be maintained in their personnel file. Additionally training on WVPP will be provided to the employee annually.
