Academic Calendar (note - for faculty, students, and course schedule) contains holidays, recesses, when finals and commencement occur, among other important dates. They are used for academic planning and following state and federal regulations.
Non-Academic Calendar (note - for district and campus services) contains observed holidays, winter recess, days when offices are closed and non-contract days*. This calendar is for non-instructional planning and should be used by classified professionals, non-instructional faculty, and managers to designate when the campus is open/closed.
* We operate on a 260-day work calendar (includes work and holidays). Any workdays beyond the 260 maximum are considered a non-contract day which means they are converted to a non-work/unpaid day. In general, we do not work on these days and our pay/salary are unaffected. This is because our pay is based on the 260 day max so anything above that becomes a day off. Any employee required to work on a non-work/unpaid day will be compensated each day at straight time for the first 8 hours, and overtime for anything more than 8 hours worked in a day.
