BookSaver is a smart, easy, and affordable way to get your textbooks and school materials. For just $27.50 per class unit, you rent them instead of buying.
To ensure you only pay for what you need, courses that are ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost) will not be included in the BookSaver cost calculation.
ZTC courses are classes that eliminate the need for students to purchase traditional textbooks by using free materials like Open Educational Resources (OER), library e-books, and other open-access materials.
By excluding these units, you avoid paying the $27.50 per unit fee for courses that already offer free materials, resulting in lower overall costs and more flexible budgeting.
- Less Stress: No more hunting for the right books. Everything you need will be ready for you at the Campus Bookstore.
- Cool Digital Tools: Use digital features like e-book highlighting, flash cards, and note-sharing to help you do well in your courses.
- For Everyone: Even if you don't get financial aid, you still save money with BookSaver.

You're Still Covered: If you get help from programs like EOPS, CARE, CalWORKs, or NextUp, you'll still get your textbooks through BookSaver. These programs will pay for your textbooks up to a certain amount.
Seeing Charges and Credits: You might see a "BookSaver" charge on your student account at first. Don't worry—this will be taken care of later. The Student Fees office will use the money from EOPS or other programs to pay this charge. If your textbooks cost more than what you get, you'll need to pay the difference.
Opting Out: If you decide not to use BookSaver, you'll get your textbook support directly at the Campus Bookstore. EOPS, CARE, CalWORKs, or other special programs will inform the Campus Bookstore, and they'll add the amount you get to your bookstore account. This applies to required textbooks only.
CalWORKs Students: If you're in CalWORKs, nothing changes. You'll keep getting your cash benefits as usual, depending on whether you're studying full-time or part-time.
