SBCCD has established a comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) to safeguard our employees from potential threats and violence in the workplace in accordance with Senate Bill 553 (SB 553). This plan aims to identify and assess workplace hazards, establish procedures to prevent and respond to incidents of workplace violence, and provide training for employees on recognizing and mitigating risks. By adhering to SB 553, SBCCD not only complies with state regulations but also commits to fostering a culture of safety and well-being for our workforce.

Resources

Resources

At SBCCD, we prioritize the well-being and safety of our employees and students. Resources offered by SBCCD include:

Threat Walks.  The SBCCD Police Department conducts threat walks to identify and mitigate potential security risks on campus. Employees join SBCCD Police Officers as they inspect work areas such as offices, classrooms, and common areas to assess and improve physical security. The goal is to enhance the safety of employees, faculty, and students and empower them to make smart choices in emergency situations. The findings from these walks often lead to recommendations for security measures and standard procedures. The findings from these walks often lead to recommendations for security measures and standard procedures, including a Q&A session to discuss findings and clarify safety procedures. A key focus is the "Run, Hide, Fight" protocol for active shooter situations:

  • Run: Evacuate if possible.
  • Hide: Find a secure hiding place if evacuation is not possible.
  • Fight: As a last resort, incapacitate the shooter.

Please contact Lieutenant Blake Bonnet at (909) 384-8652 or bbonnet@sbccd.edu to schedule a threat walk for your work area.

RAVE Alerts. RAVE Alerts is an emergency communication system used by SBCCD to quickly inform employees and students about potential threats and safety issues. RAVE Alerts, disseminated via text messages, e-mails, and voice calls, provide real-time updates on emergencies, ensuring timely and accurate information and enabling individuals to take protective actions and facilitate coordinated responses, ultimately fostering a safer campus environment.

Safe SBCCD App. The Safe SBCCD App enhances campus safety by providing quick access to emergency contacts, safety resources, and real-time alerts. Users can report incidents, request assistance, and receive updates directly through the app. Features like campus maps, safety tips, and anonymous tip submission empower the SBCCD community to stay informed and take proactive safety measures.

Employee Assistance Program. The Office of Human Resources Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides resources and confidential support for SBCCD employees. The EAP is a confidential, prepaid, results-oriented service with resources designed to address everyday problems.

Additional Resources. Additional resources may also be available through your healthcare provider.
