San Bernardino Valley College – Alliance for Water Stewardship

San Bernardino Valley College was honored with the 2025 Award of Merit – Water Category by USGBC–California in recognition of its leadership in advancing responsible water management through the Alliance for Water Stewardship. This award highlights SBVC’s comprehensive and collaborative approach to water conservation, resiliency, and education within one of California’s most water-sensitive regions.

Through the Alliance for Water Stewardship, SBVC has implemented integrated strategies to reduce potable water use, improve stormwater management, and support watershed health. Key efforts include efficient irrigation systems, climate-appropriate landscaping, on-site water reuse strategies, and campus-wide initiatives that engage students, faculty, and regional partners in water stewardship practices.

This recognition reflects SBCCD’s commitment to aligning sustainable infrastructure with education, workforce development, and community impact. By embedding water stewardship into campus operations and learning environments, SBVC continues to model how higher education institutions can lead on environmental responsibility and long-term resource resilience.
