LEED Platinum Certification - Leardership in Energy and Enviormental Design 

The San Bernardino Valley College's Techincal Building earned LEED Platinum certification in 2026, the highest certification level awarded through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. This recognition reflects the facility’s exceptional performance in sustainable design, energy efficiency, water conservation, materials, and indoor environmental quality.

Sustainable features include passive heating and cooling strategies, energy-efficient building systems, solar photovoltaic technology, strategic solar shading, and phase-change materials that help regulate indoor temperatures. The project also restored portions of the site with native, drought-tolerant landscaping to support water conservation and environmental resilience.

LEED Platinum certification demonstrates SBCCD and Valley College's commitment to creating responsible, high-performing educational facilities. By integrating sustainability with arts education and community engagement, the Technical Building provides an inspiring environment while establishing a model for environmentally responsible construction.
