Sustainable Innovation Award 2023 for

Merit in Health & Well Being

This award celebrates San Bernardino Valley College Technical Education Building for prioritizing both sustainability and human health. The technical education project is the district’s Net-Zero-ready pilot project with the goal of demonstrating how sustainability can elevate the quality and wellness of the environment and education for students and the community. This now 108,000 SF Technical Education project allows Valley College to offer programs that train students in Electric Vehicles, Photovoltaic Education, Water Technology, and other future technology programs that can include and adapt to the growth in green jobs. Students will further gain sustainability knowledge with the building management system that can communicate energy, water, and carbon emissions data directly to an interactive display in the lobby, allowing building users to explore the variety of sustainability attributes of the project.
